This weekend we are off to Elgin for what promises to be a fun, adventure-filled weekend exploring the area. We will be enjoying various activities, which are part of The Elgin Blossom Weekend. The festivities are taking place on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of October.
Elgin Blossom Weekend
Spring has sprung, the bees are out, orchards are in blossom as the new season is celebrated. Elgin will be a hive of activity this weekend, which falls right in the middle of apple blossom time. The timing could not be more ideal for exploring the area and stopping in at The Elgin Blossom Weekend partners. Spring blossom themed activities include meals, tastings and more.
Activities
Outdoor activities include orchard and vineyard walks, organic vegetable garden tours, outdoor yoga sessions, fynbos walking trails, river barge cruises. There is also a one of a kind B-Active Amazing Race!
For art enthusiasts, there is a two-day oil-painting art workshop and the launch of a new art exhibition on Sunday.
Selected participants will be serving lunches and picnics. In addition, there will be fermentation workshops, craft beer brewing demonstrations, and honey tastings. Restaurants and wine farms in the Valley will also be open for tastings. The Elgin Railway Market will be open for “beesnees” as usual, with a see-through beehive on display, and honey tastings.
There are also lots of fun-filled activities for the kids. These range from fun runs to tractor rides, mini-boeresport, not to forget kite flying, ketty shooting and jumping castles!
Wine lovers and Chardonnay aficionados can take part in the highly acclaimed fourth annual Elgin Chardonnay Colloquium. This is taking place on Saturday the 12th of October. Visitors can join a panel of wine experts, who will guide you through Elgin’s elegant Chardonnays.
