Tuk Tuk Microbrewery is a beer lover’s heaven! Located on Main Street Franschhoek, the collaboration between the Leeu Collection and the Cape Brewing Company {CBC} has proved extremely popular.
Tuk Tuk Microbrewery
Tuk Tuk, located in the stunning Franschhoek Valley, is all about the authentic microbrewery experience. As a 250-litre capacity brewery, they are ‘micro’ in the truest sense of the word.
I particularly love the industrial feel of the interiors, with exposed brick and copper fittings. Inside seating offers patrons the opportunity of watching the brewing process first-hand. They also have an outside terrace opening onto Main Street, which is perfect on a balmy day.
Craft Beers
According to Tuk Tuk brewmaster, Dewald Goosen, the first step to creating exceptional craft beer is selecting the perfect ingredients. Their bespoke brews are crafted from a premium selection of local, as well as imported hops and malts. Add to this specially cultured yeast and crystal clear spring water, sourced from a mountain spring on Leeu Estate.
Tuk Tuk offers guests a range of five craft beers; one is seasonal and only available while the batch lasts. You can also taste a selection of five of CBC’s top brews, made at their state-of-the-art plant at Spice Route.
I am not a massive beer drinker, but it was great fun to taste the different selections. My favourites were the Dunkel and Pale Ale.
On The Menu
Craft beer is not the only attraction at Tuk Tuk; they also offer a tapas style menu. Deliciously morish items such as crispy Cheese Balls, Seared Tuna Tacos and Buffalo Wings with Hot Sauce, are just a few things to whet your appetite.
Tuk Tuk is a must if you are in the Valley and looking for a great vibey place for a few brews and something to eat.
