Gelish South Africa will be launching their new Acrylic Dip System in March. The new Gelish Dip System is set to fill the gap between regular acrylic and gel nail treatments.
Gelish Dip
This new, high-quality, acrylic dip system, which is taking the nail industry by storm, is set to launch in SA salons, next month! There are a few factors that make this product a winner, one being the super quick application process. It also does not require time spent under lights for it to set and there is no nasty odour.
Gelish Dip is available in a large variety of colours which include cremes, glitters, shimmers, metallics and 5 French shades. All the colours have been matched to existing Gelish and Morgan Taylor shades.
The Process
I popped in at the Sparkle Cosmetics recently for a demonstration of how the product works. I have also included a video of the dip process.
To start my mani, I selected a colour which is a super sexy red called Fire Cracker{ I am a bit obsessed with red at the moment}. The dip system colour is in a powder form. As with a normal manicure, my nails were prepped and shaped to my liking. A Prep and Base Coat were applied to my nails, after which they were dipped into the colour. Any excess powder was then dusted off, another layer of the Base Coat was applied and my nails were dipped again.
The next step was to apply the Activator and then a final layer of the Base Coat. My nails were left to set for a few minutes; once set any lumps and bumps were buffed away. A final layer of Activator was applied, followed by a glossy Top Coat.
In only a few minutes my nails were dry and I was ready to go!
My Verdict
I don’t often opt for a Gelish mani and have only had acrylic nails once before, so I am not an aficionado on the subject but I was super impressed with the Gelish Dip System. I think the most important thing for me is that it did not take hours to apply or set! Then there is also the fact that it lasts much longer than regular polish – up to 14 days. The photograph above was taken today, exactly 10 days after the application, which I think is pretty good going. There have been one or two minor chips on the sides of a few of my nails but I can live with that. Something else worth mentioning is the wonderful flawless finish, which is not very easily achieved with regular polish, as well as the lack of upkeep, which is great for someone with a busy schedule.
The dip needs to be soaked off so I will make an appointment next week to have it done. The time to soak-off is similar to that of Gelish Polish, approximately 20 minutes.
Although this is probably not a manicure I would have regularly, it would definitely be a great option if I was travelling for a few weeks and was unable to do touchups.
Availability & Cost
As I mentioned earlier, the new Dip System will be available in salons from next month. We were not given the exact price but Gelish Dip will cost slightly more {+-R50 to R80} than a regular Gelish application, which currently costs R230 at Sorbet Salons.
Disclosure: This is post is not sponsored but I did receive a complimentary Dip Treatment from Sparkle Cosmetics.
