Nature’s Source recently sent me a selection of their breakfast muesli to try, and I decided to make my deliciously healthy breakfast jars. Breakfast Jars are a quick, healthy and convenient breakfast option – perfect for busy lifestyles.
Nature’s Source Muesli
Now available in a handy new resealable pack, to help keep the product fresh for longer. Nature’s Source Muesli is available in three ranges, each offering a flavour variation. These include the Crunch range (Muesli Crunch, Crispy Crunch, Nutzy Crunch, and African Sunrise), Luxury range (Tropical Cluster, Toasted Nut, and Strawberry & Yoghurt) and Benefit range (Swiss Muesli and Four Seeds).
Seasonal Breakfast Jars
Breakfast in our home happens very early during the week, which is why it is often easier to prepare something the night before. Breakfast jars are an excellent way to make breakfast ahead of time and have it ready to go the next day.
You can assemble your breakfast jar the night before or if you have time, do it in the morning. If you prefer the muesli crunchy, pack either the yoghurt or muesli separately. If you are like my hubby who likes the muesli soft then, as I do, combine all the ingredients in the same jar.
Ingredients
- Nature’s Source Muesli
- Yoghurt {Double thick Greek Yoghurt & Strawberry Yoghurt}
- Fresh Fruit {Strawberries, Blood Oranges & Bananas}
- Breakfast Seed Mix
- Honey
- Glass Jar {with a lid}
The best way to assemble a breakfast jar is to create layers of Nature’s Source Muesli, yoghurt and fresh fruit. I use whatever fruit is in season at the time. For these jars, I used strawberries, blood oranges and bananas. You can also top the muesli jar with a selection of seeds.
Making these jars for your children is a great way to include a variety of fruits, as well as beneficial nuts and seeds, in their diet. It is also fun to get them involved and let them construct the jars themselves.
Berry Delight Jar
For the Berry Delight Jar, I used the Nature’s Source African Sunrise Muesli, strawberry yoghurt and fresh strawberries. The African Sunrise Muesli is the perfect start to the day as it is high in fibre and energy. As I mentioned, you can use whatever berries are in season or a variety of berries. If you cannot get your hand on fresh berries, then an alternative is to use frozen ones and make a coulis.
Layer the jar as desired – I layered muesli first, then yoghurt and finally fruit. You can repeat the layers as many times as you like, depending on the size of the jar you are using. End off the layers with yoghurt and fresh strawberries. Serve immediately or refrigerate overnight.
Zesty Citrus Jar
For the Zesty Citrus Jar, I used the Nature’s Source Swiss Cereal Muesli, plain double thick Greek yoghurt, blood orange segments, sliced banana and honey. The Swiss Cereal Muesli contains fruit and nuts and is very low in sodium.
As with the berry jar, I layered muesli first, then the yoghurt, the blood orange and a drizzle of honey. End off with yoghurt, fresh banana and a sprinkling of seeds. Serve immediately or refrigerate overnight.
These breakfast jars are so simple to make and are a healthy start to the day. They are also fantastic if you are having a birthday breakfast or brunch and want to impress your friends!
