Megs Hartwig says
My Mother, Anna Hartwig , is the #BestMom in the world as she has been the most amazing role model to me; she has never steered me in the wrong direction, she allowed me to make my own mistakes without so much as an “I told you so.” She afforded me the space to grow and learn for myself without ever being so far away that she weren’t able to help when I needed her. She is my mom, my mentor, my strength, my number one fan and, most of all, my best friend. She has always been a constant force in an ever-changing life.
No matter the trials she faced in your own life, she always found the means to ensure my needs were met. To this day I cannot begin to imagine how she did it. Despite all your heartaches, worries and troubles, she never lost her kind nature, she never surrendered her tenderness or sacrificed her values. When my heart aches, she know exactly what to say to pick me up and bring me back to myself. Whenever I have felt like our world is caving in, and that I am falling apart, it is her strength and love that have kept me going.
I will always cherish the morning teatimes we spend together; the time we are able to relax into one another, to chat and catch up on all the goings on in our lives. I know that through her love, wisdom and friendship she has given me the ability to love unconditionally, to cherish every living creature and to treat them with the utmost respect and kindness. If I am able to grow to be half the woman that I see in her, I will consider my life a success.
I can say, with certainty, that without her by my side, I would not be the woman I am today. Everything I have achieved, I owe to her. She is my pillar of strength and my most trusted friend.
I love her once, I love her twice, I love her three times, I love her forever!
Your loving and eternally grateful daughter, Megs xx

My mum is the best person in my life because from the day I was born she has put me first!
She has dedicated her life to filling my life with so much love and unbelievably happy memories and experiences.
She is a role model and someone I strive to be like. She teaches me so much about grace, humility, being thankful and grateful, giving not receiving and putting others first.
She is not just my mum… she is my best friend! And I love her completely ?

I love my Mum and I miss her – she lives in the UK and I wish I was with her to take care of her – she has a serious case of scoliosis and is now bent almost in half and she is also in the early stages of Alzheimers. I have one son at home with me because he is unemployed so at least I am not alone on Mother’s Day. Miss having all my kids and grandkids around!
Ramona says

I love my mom for her unconditional love and caring towards me and that is what I love the most about being a mom too – knowing my kids love me no matter what and that after a bad day their cuddles will always make me feel better
Princess Mel says
I became a mom at the tender age of 19. My son turnes 19 this year and is living abroad as part of his gap year. I realize now that he is not at home, that this boy is as much a part of me as any of my limbs. My whole being is centered around my love for him. He has contributed greatly to the woman I have become, to the career choices iv made and to,the things I esteem as valuable. For many years as a single mom, the only celebration of me as a mom were lopsided posies from the garden, hastily scribbled love letters, burnt toast and runny eggs on Mother’s Day. Today I treasure those. It reminds me that I’m a Mom. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Nicola Meyer says
I LOVE being a Mom!! Watching my kids grow and develop into wonderful young people. Being able to fetch them from school and ask them about their day and attending their sport matches. Getting hugs and kisses and laughing with them. Bliss!!
Dawn W says
From the moment I laid eyes on her I knew this would be a lifetime of love and commitment. Someone who would love me unconditionally, who would guide me through all the ups and downs, never judging me, always supporting me. A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. My mother was there for me throughout my pregnancy, guiding me as I learnt to deal with constant nausea, holding my hand as I threatened to miscarry, never giving up on this miracle inside of me, easing me into motherhood and teaching me that unconditional love is the root of motherhood, crying with me as I lost one baby after another, looking after me as I went through hours of labour losing yet another baby. I have my miracle child, despite being told I never would and my Mother has been that special bond, that glue that holds me together and I can only hope and pray that I will one day be just half the woman she is, someone who is loving, kind, giving and never has a bad word to say about anyone, always seeing the good in every situation and never losing faith!!!
Joles says
What makes my Mum so special? Wow, I don’t know where to really begin.
My mother is the light in our family. From her shines true love that would sow love in every member of the family. She shows true compassion that is needed to link each family member towards unity. She is the epitome of a woman through her beliefs, decisions and care as shown by her noble love.
My Mother’s wise words of advice filled with tenderness remains with each of her 3 daughters in how she taught us to forgive and keep our hearts pure and open and never to allow envy or jealousy to ever set in. I am able to remain calm even in the most adverse of situations due to the resilience that she has cultivated in me.
My mother would wake up in the wee hours of the morning just to feed us. She sacrificed her sleep just to keep an eye on her gentle and delicate baby. She hums beautiful lullabies as she promises her child the comfort in life and the everlasting love that she is willing to offer. As we grew up she guided us not just on our first steps but also in first words. She opened us to the beauty that the world can offer. She chose to be with us whenever we were sick. She would skip workdays just to attend school meetings, birthdays and other occasions. And still she provides comfort in times of heartaches and sufferings. She is willing to lend an open hand whenever we face difficulties in life. She guides us to the right path. She utters encouraging words to give strength.
My mother is the most forgiving person. No matter how painful words from us may hurt her, she would still be the one to initiate to close the gaps between us. She initiates peace and love so that the family would stay bonded together. She always humbles herself for the welfare of her family. She knows how to forgive and forget. A mother is the first to feel pain in times of indifferences and conflicts that each family member is going through but she knows how to be strong to transform pain into courage to shed hope during rough times. She is the first person to save her child from the untoward incidents that we may face in this cruel world. A mother would always be a mother.
No matter where she goes, no matter what she does, she will remain to be the most loved person on earth. Her works may not be printed in the best books ever published. But her true worth would remain in each child that had witnessed how unselfish she is, how good she is and how beautiful she is inside and out.
I love you Mum.
rehana seedat says
My mom is not the typical mom who would wake up very early in the morning to prepare breakfast for us. Nor is she the type who will cook merienda for us while we were still in school, so that by the time we get home, there would be a hot cup of chocolate and pancakes waiting for our much-deserved snacks.
No. Mama is more than that. She is the working-mom-kind-of- mother who works 8 hours a day, then comes home and faces the household chores. I admire her for what she knows and for being so cool about it. Ask her any question and she is always beaming with the right answer. She often challenges my values, my convictions – making sure that I keep the right values close to my heart always, and get rid of the things that destroy both the body, mind and spirit.
The wisdom that my mom shares with me is simply priceless.
Life is a pool of learnings gathered from past experiences, but without a mother guiding you as you go through life, my paths would have been different. Learning never stops when I am with mom. She is the best, if not the bestest. My mum reminds me that the happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.”
She is God’s gift to me. From her, I learned everything that I needed to survive in this challenging world.
She taught me the real meaning of love (outside of emotions and beyond words) forgiveness, patience and grace.
She is a mother who takes care of all our needs. Besides being our mum, she’s also our storyteller, peacemaker, doctor, counsellor, fashion critic, financial adviser & best friend. ““Her heart is forever young – she enjoys dancing, laughing, and striking poses while taking photos.
Mum’s love is special; she scolds to discipline, she nags with good intentions but deep down, she is all love.”
I can only thank God for my mom because without her, I would not have been brought out into this world and enjoy the life I now enjoy. Her Selflessness, ongoing Love and dedication to her family & sacrifices she has made for us over the years, makes her soooo Special and the best MOM Ever.

Astrid Julies says
My Mother – she’s is my role model and that of her grandkids. She is a strong individual – she lost our father in the prime of her life (40’s), became the sole breadwinner, carer and parent to my 4 sisters and I. Suddenly she had to learn to drive, manage a cheque book and maintain the household. With girls ranging from ages 6 – 18, she had it cut out; however mom never lost her spark. She furthered her studies in education- this till today remains close to her heart – and got her driving licence at the age of 48. Good food was always served and is a great entertainer, she dresses very stylish and take care of her appearance.
Her kids, grandkids and greater family is her core love.
At the age of 80 (end of 2013) it was discovered that mother has stage 3 breastcancer. Our mother have recently completed extensive Chemo and Radiotherapy treatments. She remained positive and strong in her faith.
She is recovering very well…she is a lady, she is maternal leader, she is a courages being….she is My Mom.

My Mom is so special for so many reasons,
She remains constant throughout all the seasons.
She’s loving & gentle yet courageous & strong,
She knows how to admit when she is wrong.
She’s clever & capable and never gets stressed,
And as a mother she is so richly blessed,
To have precious jewels around her neck-
The arms of her children- her reality checks.
As a mother she’s a doctor, a chef and a teacher,
She’s also a sand castle expert & lifesaver on beaches.
My Mom’s incredible – that’s what I think,
And if she wins Anais Anais she’d be tickled pink!

When you thought I wasn’t looking” by Mary Rita Schilke Korzan
When you thought I wasn’t looking
You hung my first painting on the refrigerator
And I wanted to paint another.
When you thought I wasn’t looking
You fed a stray cat
And I thought it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn’t looking
You baked a birthday cake just for me
And I knew that little things were special things.
When you thought I wasn’t looking
You said a prayer
And I believed there was a God that I could always talk to.
When you thought I wasn’t looking
You kissed me good-night
And I felt loved.
When you thought I wasn’t looking
I saw tears come from your eyes
And I learned that sometimes things hurt—
But that it’s alright to cry.
When you thought I wasn’t looking
You smiled
And it made me want to look that pretty too.
When you thought I wasn’t looking
You cared
And I wanted to be everything I could be.
When you thought I wasn’t looking—
I looked . . .
And wanted to say thanks
For all those things you did
When you thought I wasn’t looking.
Megan says
I never realised how tough yet rewarding it is to be a mom until I became one myself. Thank you mom for everything you have done for me.

My mom is my best friend and my pillar of strength. She is the glue that holds our entire family together. She gives unselfishly, loves unconditionally and I can only hope that my kiddies will one day have the same relationship with me like I have with her. My life would be incomplete without her. Being a mom is hard work, I have 2 young toddlers, a full time job, and I’m exhausted 24/7, but having little arms thrown around your neck and the words “luff you” whispered in your ear makes everything worthwhile. Wouldn’t change it for the world.
