Ryan's Kitchen, in Franschhoek, has always been one of our favourite restaurants in the Valley. It holds lots of special memories, and we have always had such great dining experiences there. When invited back recently, you did not have to ask me twice. In fact, any reason to go to Franschhoek and I am in! Grant and I decided to make the most of it and stay overnight at The Ivy Apartments.

The Alphen Boutique Hotel in Constantia has been on my "staycation" bucket list for quite a while. I think the main draw for me is the old world, glamorous style of the hotel. Many five star hotels are extremely modern, and while I like modern, I have been hankering for something a bit different.

There are so many wine regions in the Cape, which I still need to explore. One, in particular, is Tulbagh. It is a wine route that is fast gaining popularity, and I think warrants more of my attention. A recent visit to Montpellier Wine Estate, to taste their new summer vintages, as well as stay the night was the perfect way to find out more about the area.

We have always enjoyed spending time in the quaint seaside village of Kalk Bay. Often we will pop through for lunch and a glass of wine or coffee. On other occasions, it will be for an ice cream and a meander through the quaint streets. Even though we have spent lots of time exploring the area, we have never stayed over. Our Kalk Bay "Staycation" with Afristay presented the perfect opportunity to do just that, and explore as a tourist.
