Sorbet Salon Kenilworth Review
Most often I do my own mani’s and pedi’s at home, as my spare time is limited. Which makes a visit to the salon a real treat! My most recent salon mani, was from the new Sorbet Salon in Kenilworth, Cape Town.
Sorbet Salons are located nationwide. Sorbet nail, body, hair and skin care specialists, offer a range of beauty therapy treatments for women and men. The salons cater for all-round beauty therapy – Sorbet Dry Bar for express hair-styling, Sorbet Man for real men’s grooming and Candi & Co for ethnic hair treatments and hair-styling.
Sorbet Salon Kenilworth
Sorbet Kenilworth is a wonderfully light and bright space! It is perfectly located in the newly developed Pam Golding On Main Building. The building boasts a host of great tenants, as well as secure covered parking. You can enjoy a leisurely coffee after your treatment, in one of the coffee shops or pick up a few groceries at the Pick n Pay Small Store.
For my treatment I opted for a Gelish mani, which I don’t usually do but I had quite a few events coming up, so I thought it would be the most long lasting option. I decided on a the colour Inner Vixen, which is a sexy deep wine red, with a pretty shimmer.
Pam, my therapist, set to work on my nails. I wear my nails relatively short, as I spend most of my time typing on a keyboard, so there was not too much filing to do. After getting the shape right, Pam started the Gelish application.
Once the polish was set I received a wonderfully relaxing hand massage!
The staff at the new Sorbet Salon where wonderful and I loved my Gelish mani. I have received so many compliments about the colour, as well as how awesome my nails look! Don’t you agree?
A Gelish Mani at Sorbet will cost you R220.00 for Nail Prep and Gelish application or R380.00 for Gelish with a Power Mani.

Rouge Day Spa Eyelash Extensions – Win!
You may recall a review post I did after a visit to Rouge Day Spa, which is situated in Kenilworth in Cape Town. The Spa offers a full range of skin and body treatments, massages, mani’s and pedi’s, facials, waxing and tanning.
I was recently invited back to Rouge Day Spa, to have a full set of Eyelash Extensions fitted. Being someone who has only worn false eyelashes once, I was unsure what to expect but I went along with an open mind!
Rouge Day Spa Eyelash Extensions
Upon arrival at Rouge Day Spa, I was shown to one of their treatment rooms. Once settled my therapist Koko explained how the eyelash extension application works. After securing my bottom lashes with tape, so they would not interfere with the application of the extensions, she set to work.
You can opt for dramatic look or something a bit more simple, if you are a bit nervous to go all-out the first time! For my lashes, I asked Koko to aim somewhere in-between – I love a bit of drama in my life 🙂
Each eyelash extension is meticulously applied, to your own lashes – something which takes patience and precision, which my therapist clearly had in abundance! If like me, you have never had eyelash extensions before, I can assure you it is completely painless and the entire process takes about an hour and fifteen minutes.
The end result was amazing! As Koko pointed out to me I already have good lashes but WOW what a difference the extensions make! I could not stop looking at myself in the mirror. Below you can see a before and after picture, in both photos I am not wearing any eye makeup.
I have also been wearing much less eye makeup and did not wear mascara for the first week, as I really did not need to.
A full Set of Eyelash Extensions cost R450 and Rouge Day Spa also offers maintenance services, which are R250 for a 2 week fill and R350 for a 3 week fill.
How to care for your lash extensions:
It is recommended that you use an oil-free mascara and a gel eye pencil, while you have eyelash extensions fitted! Rouge Day Spa stocks the recommended products for eyelash extension users, which is The Blink Lash Care range. To clean your lashes and remove any makeup it is also recommended that you use The Blink Lash Care range’s oil free make-up remover.
I am very excited to announce that one lucky Inspired Living reader can win a full set of Eyelash Extensions from Rouge Day Spa, worth R450!

Mangwanani Spa Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel
Mangwanani Spa
Last week I popped in at the new Mangwanani Spa, at the Southern Sun The Cullinan hotel, to enjoy a hot stone massage.
The Hotel ~
The Southern Sun The Cullinan, is one of my favourite urban hotels, is a truly grandiose space, the epitome of luxury! The SS The Cullinan is part of the award-winning, Tsogo Sun, hotel group – well known for world-class luxury. It is situated in the heart of the Cape Town CBD, perfectly located and within walking distance of the popular V&A Waterfront.
The Spa ~
The Mangwanani Spa is the perfect addition to the hotel. Guests now have the opportunity and convenience, of indulging in a range of therapeutic African wellness experiences. All without having to leave the hotel.
The Mangwanani Spa massage treatments, are infused with traditional African healing rituals and contemporary wellness therapies that nurture body, mind and spirit.
Their new signature treatment is the Korean Scrub with African Rituals. This vigorous and rejuvenating full-body exfoliation, combines modern knowledge with ancient wisdom, to cleanse your body of dead and aging skin cells. Using an original Korean technique and African traditions. The treatment starts with a twenty minute soak in the warm glass spa baths – leaving your body feeling young, refreshed and revived.
The Mangwanani Spa’s luxurious and tranquil interiors are the perfect setting to unwind and be pampered. The chandeliers and mirrors in the spa are truly magnificent!
The minute you walk up the stairs to the spa, you are greeted with the heady aroma of glorious citrusy scents. A fragrance quite similar to one I experienced in a hotel, we stayed at in Mauritius!
The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The treatment I enjoyed was a, much needed, Full Body Hot Stone Massage or an “Izimanga”. I did not realise that I had that much tension in my body!
Massages, manicures and pedicures can also be enjoyed around the pool, reclining on a lounger and sipping on herbal tea or a glass of bubbly. Weather permitting naturally! Hotel guests can also book treatments in the privacy of their rooms. For a full treatment list click here.
